Our story
Why this scholarship exists
The Aim High, Dream Big Scholarship was founded in 2020 by Nimbe Juarez, a DREAMer, to help young people facing the same road she once walked. Tuition, school supplies, and everyday college expenses are never small - and figuring out how to cover them is even harder when you're not a citizen, or you're the first in your family to go to college.
Now in its sixth year, the scholarship exists for exactly that reason: to give immigrant students and children of immigrants in Illinois one less obstacle between them and a degree.
Our mission is to empower immigrant students and children of immigrants by providing financial support - regardless of immigration status. We are committed to expanding access to education and helping students pursue their goals, realize their potential, and build brighter futures.
Open to every background
The Aim High, Dream Big Scholarship is available to immigrant students and children of immigrants, regardless of ethnicity, national origin, or immigration status. You do not need a Social Security number, U.S. citizenship, or permanent residency to apply - you only need to meet the residency and enrollment criteria.
Each year, a committee reviews every application and selects recipients based on hard work, perseverance, academic achievement, leadership, and commitment to community.
